Nicole's Breakfast Cake

Topping:
1/ 4 c. softened butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
1 C. cereal (rice krispies)

Cake:
  2 1/2 C. flour (can use all prairie gold wheat(white wheat kernels))
  1 C. packed brown sugar
          1/2 t. salt
          1/2  C. softened butter
           2 t. baking powder
           1/2 t. baking soda
           1/2 t.  cinnamon
           1/ 2 t. nutmeg
            2 beaten eggs
          1 1/3 c. buttermilk or sour milk ( or put 1 and 1/3 T of vinegar or lemon juice and fill measuring cup with milk to make 1 1/3 cup)

Grease 9 X13 pan, set aside.  Combine flour, brown sugar, and salt, cut in butter till mixture is crumbly, take out 1/2 c. and set aside.  Stir baking powder, soda, cinnamon and nutmeg into remaining crumb mixture.
Combine eggs and buttermilk.  Add all at once to dry mixture; mix well.  Spoon into pan.  Combine topping with the 1/2 c. crumb mixture that was set aside. Mix and put over top of cake.  Bake 350 for 35 minutes
